A programme of self-development, career exploration and career management enables pupils to understand themselves and gives them an opportunity to research and plan an appropriate career path throughout KS3 and KS4. Careers Education is delivered through timetabled lessons and all students work towards a Careers and Experiencing Work Short Course. Year 11 students are also provided the opportunity and support to apply for post-16 courses and training during timetabled careers lessons.

At Titan Aston Academy students are entitled to careers information, advice and guidance and also careers education to help prepare for their next career step. All our advisers are committed to providing quality, impartial careers and progression support. During Year 10 and 11, learners are offered careers mentoring sessions during which a careers action plan is discussed and agreed.

Throughout the academic year students have the opportunity to attend after school drop-in sessions and receive support to complete applications for post-16 training courses. Access to a Careers Fair is provided for students and also careers assemblies and workshops are organised providing the opportunity to engage with several different business representatives and experts. Students are invited to attend taster days at a variety of colleges and training providers across Birmingham giving them an insight in to the different colleges and also the courses available helping students to make an informed careers decision. Students are also provided with the opportunity to visit a higher education establishment and participate in “master classes”.

Students are supported to apply and prepare for work experience In June and July of Year 10. Students engage in placements for three days helping them to gain an insight in to the world of work and develop essential employability skills.
